Web Design & Development

More enquiries from your website, and a site your team can actually update.

Web Design & Development at TechSum is for businesses whose website should bring in work and doesn't. We design, build and look after business websites, online stores and campaign pages that load fast, read clearly and turn visits into enquiries.

  • 8 kinds of work
  • 4 ways to work

Who it is for

Is this you?

  • Your site needs one small change, and the only developer who knows it has moved on

  • Visitors leave before the page loads on their phone

  • A redesign went live, old links broke and the Google enquiries stopped

  • You sell online and the store fights you on every order

What we do

Eight ways we make it happen

Each one starts with what changes for you, then how we do it. The ones with their own page go deeper. Whichever you need, the same standard applies, and the same team does the work.

What you get

What you get, whatever the size

Whatever the size of the job, you receive these, phase by phase. Nothing is held back at the end.

In detail

Who Web Design & Development suits, what we build, how the TechSum Standard applies and when we are not the right team. Open the ones you care about.

Web Design & Development at TechSum is for businesses that need a website which brings in work. We design and build business websites, online stores and campaign pages that load fast, read clearly and are easy to update, and we stay on to look after them once they are live.

What does web design and development cover?

Everything between "our website isn't working for us" and a site that does its job every day. That means page structure, help with the words, design, code, hosting, speed, search basics and a proper handover.

A good business website explains what you do in the first few seconds, loads quickly on an ordinary phone, and gives every visitor an obvious next step. Most of the work is making that true on every page, then keeping it true.

Who is it for?

Businesses that have outgrown a template, brands that want to sell online, and teams stuck with a site nobody can update. It also suits organisations that want speed and accessibility done properly from the start.

If you are not sure where your current site stands, the free health check gives a quick read on speed, security settings and search basics. The fuller Digital Health Check goes deeper and ends with a written report you keep.

What can TechSum build?
  • Business and corporate websites: clear pages that say what you do and bring enquiries.
  • Online stores on Shopify, WooCommerce or headless commerce, where the shop's back end is kept separate from the pages shoppers see. See e-commerce development.
  • Landing pages and campaign sites that load quickly and show what each campaign brought in.
  • Headless CMS and Next.js builds: a simple editing tool for your team, and a fast site for visitors.
  • Migration and modernisation from WordPress, Wix or Canva without losing rankings. See website migration.
  • Speed and Core Web Vitals. These are the measures Google reports on how a page feels: how fast it loads, how quickly it responds to a tap and whether it jumps around. See Core Web Vitals work.
  • Accessibility audits against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), with fixes.
  • Website care: updates, backups and monitoring. See website care and AMC.

A website rarely works alone. Payments and customer portals sit under Application Development, and getting found sits under Search & Answer Visibility. The same team does both.

How does a website project run?

We follow The Path. Listen starts on day one: your goals, your visitors and the businesses you compete with. Shape comes before any build, with the page structure, rough layouts (wireframes) and a written scope you can hold us to. Build runs in sprints you can see, with a working demo each time. Launch happens when you are ready, after testing on real phones and browsers, and you receive every file and login. Evolve is the care that follows.

You set the pace, and we agree the schedule with you at the start. A small site moves quickly. A large store connected to other software takes longer, and we say so up front.

The TechSum Standard applies to every website we build:

  • Secure by default: security headers, protected forms and up-to-date plugins from the first build, so the contact form never becomes a spam gateway.
  • Built to scale: pages, content types and hosting set up so a new product line or a new market means new pages, not a new site.
  • Tested before it ships: every page checked on real phones and browsers, every form sent end to end, speed measured before launch.
  • Looked after after launch: updates, backups and uptime checks carry on, and every request is logged where you can see it.
  • Small changes handled, not invoiced: a changed phone number, a new team photo or a broken link gets fixed. It does not become a quote.
  • Honest advice, even when it means less work for us: if your site only needs a few fixes, or a template will do, you hear it before you spend on a rebuild.
How do you know a website is working?

It loads quickly on a phone and passes the Core Web Vitals measures. Headings are clear, and a visitor knows what to do next. Forms work and every enquiry reaches the right person. Search engines can read the pages, and so can people using screen readers.

You can also see how it performs, because analytics are set up properly from the start. Data & Analytics builds the reporting when you want more than the basics.

When are we not the right team?

If you need a site live right away with no planning at all, a template service will suit you better. If your site is simple and already works, we may tell you to leave it alone and fix only what is slow or broken. You will hear that from us before you spend anything.

FAQ

Questions we get asked

How long does a website take to build?

You set the pace, and we agree the schedule with you at the start and put it in writing. A small landing page moves quickly, and a large store connected to other software takes longer. We confirm the schedule once the scope is clear, before any build begins.

Will moving to a new site hurt my Google rankings?

It can, if nobody plans for it, which is why we do. We match every old web address to its new one, keep the content that already earns traffic, and check search results after launch. Our website migration page shows the full process.

Can my team edit the site without a developer?

Yes. We build with an editing tool your team can use on its own, show you how before launch, and leave you a recorded walkthrough. If you would rather not touch it, small changes are handled under the care plan.

Do you build on WordPress or Shopify?

We build online stores on Shopify and WooCommerce, and custom sites on Next.js with a headless CMS, an editing tool kept separate from the site. We recommend whichever fits your size and budget, and we say so when a simpler platform will do.

What happens after the site goes live?

We stay. A care plan covers updates, security fixes, backups and checks that the site is up. Every request is logged in our Client Ops Portal, so you can see what was done and when.

Digital Health Check

Find out where your website really stands. Speed, security, search and AI answers, email setup and data protection basics, reviewed by a person and explained in one written report.

  • Speed and Core Web Vitals findings for your key pages
  • A review of your security headers (settings that tell browsers how to treat your site) and basic protection
  • SEO basics: titles, descriptions, indexing, sitemap and structured data
  • AEO basics, which means whether AI assistants can find and quote you
  • Ends in a short written report you keep
