In detail

Who Data & Analytics suits, what we build, how the TechSum Standard applies and when we are not the right team. Open the ones you care about.

Data & Analytics at TechSum is for founders and leadership teams who want to see what is working in the business. We set up tracking you can trust, tidy the data behind it and build dashboards that show the few numbers you actually decide with.

What is Data & Analytics?

Collecting the right data, keeping it clean, and showing it in a way people can act on. In practice that means tracking set up correctly on your website and product, sales data that agrees across tools, and a small set of reports that arrive without someone building them by hand.

Most businesses already have numbers. The trouble is that they come from several places and do not agree. We start by finding the gaps, then fix them one by one.

Who is it for?

Founders who cannot say which channel brings paying customers. Leadership teams that sit through meetings with three versions of the same figure. Sales teams working from a CRM full of duplicates. Product teams who want to see where users drop off.

A quick way to begin is the free online health check for the basics, or the fuller Digital Health Check for a written report on tracking, speed, search basics and email setup.

What does TechSum do in data and analytics?
  • Analytics setup with GA4, consent-aware tracking and server-side tagging. Server-side tagging sends data through your own server before it reaches analytics tools, so you control what is shared. See analytics setup.
  • Business dashboards and reporting. See business dashboards.
  • KPI frameworks for founders and leadership: a short list of measures, each with a clear definition and an owner.
  • Data pipelines and warehousing: moving information from several systems into one central store.
  • CRM and sales data cleanup.
  • Product analytics: tracking the steps people take inside a product, such as signing up or placing an order.
  • Operations and asset intelligence: reporting on equipment, contracts and day-to-day operations.

Data rarely stands alone. Search reports feed Search & Answer Visibility. Personal data rules connect to Trust, Security & Compliance. Clean data is also what any AI system stands on. The same team handles all of it.

How does a data project run?

We use The Path. In Listen we list the decisions you make and the questions you cannot answer today. In Shape we agree what each term means: what counts as a lead, a customer, a repeat order. Build puts the tracking, pipelines and dashboards in short sprints, so you see real numbers early. Launch checks that the figures match the source systems. Evolve keeps them honest as the business changes.

Every important number is checked against its source before a dashboard goes live. If two sources disagree, we explain why and agree with you which one wins.

The TechSum Standard applies to every data project:

  • Secure by default: tracking waits for consent where it is required, personal data is kept to what you need, and access to reports follows roles.
  • Built to scale: definitions, pipelines and dashboards built so a new tool or channel slots in without rebuilding the reports.
  • Tested before it ships: every important number checked against its source before anyone decides with it.
  • Looked after after launch: tracking is watched, so a site change that breaks a tag is caught early.
  • Small changes handled, not invoiced: a new filter, a renamed field or one more chart for the weekly meeting gets done. It does not become a quote.
  • Honest advice, even when it means less work for us: if you have too little data for dashboards to help yet, we say so and set up the basics instead.
How do you know your data is in good shape?

You can answer a few plain questions without calling a meeting. Which channel brings the best customers? How long does a lead take to convert? Which feature do people use? The numbers match what finance sees. The dashboard loads quickly and nobody refreshes it by hand.

Visitors are respected too. Tracking runs only after consent where it is required, and you can say what you collect and why.

When are we not the right team?

If you have very little traffic or data, heavy dashboards will not help yet. A simple setup and one clear question will, and we will say so. We also cannot promise a business result from the numbers. We make sure they are correct. What you do with them is your call.

FAQ

Questions we get asked

What is GA4 and do I need it?

GA4 is Google Analytics 4, Google's current tool for measuring visits and actions on a website or app. Most businesses need some way to measure this. How it is set up matters more than the tool, because poor tracking gives confident but wrong numbers.

What does consent-aware tracking mean?

The tracking waits for the visitor's permission where the law or your policy requires it, and records that choice. It protects you and keeps your data usable. Where personal data is involved, we set it up together with our Trust, Security & Compliance discipline.

Can you clean up the data we already have?

Yes. CRM and sales data cleanup is a common starting point: removing duplicates, fixing fields and agreeing what each status means. Reports are only as honest as the data under them.

How many dashboards do we need?

Usually fewer than people expect. We start from the decisions you make each week and build only the views that serve them. A dashboard nobody opens is not worth building.

Do you work with our existing tools?

Yes. We connect to what you already use, such as Google Analytics, your CRM, accounting software and spreadsheets, before suggesting anything new.
