How it works

Three steps, then you decide

  1. Tell us what is worrying you

Write a few lines or book a short call. Share the site, system, quote or idea you want looked at.

  2. We agree the scope with you

A person on the team replies to agree what is covered. The work is fixed and written down before it starts, and you choose the pace.

  3. You get a short written report

Plain words, fixes in priority order. It is yours to use with us or with anyone else.

Where it can lead

If you want to go further

The report often points to work in one of these disciplines. You decide whether, when and with whom.

The detail

The Tech Second Opinion is for anyone about to commit to a technology quote, proposal or build, or already uneasy about one. Quotes are hard to judge from the outside, so you get someone on your side of the table before you sign or spend more. You share the material, we read it with your goals in mind, and you walk away with an honest view in a short written report.

What does the Tech Second Opinion look at?

You may bring a quote from an agency, a proposal from a vendor, a technical design someone has drawn or a product already partly built. We look at:

  • Scope. Does it cover what you need, and is anything important missing or left vague?
  • Approach. Does the proposed way of building fit the problem and your plans?
  • Technology choices. Are the tools sensible for your size and your team, or fashionable for their own sake?
  • Risk. What could go wrong, and who carries it?
  • Gaps. What is not mentioned that usually matters, such as hosting, handover, security and ongoing care?
How does it run?

Send us the documents and a short note on what you are trying to achieve. We review, and where something is unclear we may ask you or the other party for clarification. The price is fixed and agreed before we start. Documents are used only for the review.

What do you walk away with?

A short written report. It sets out what looks sound, what is vague, the risks ranked by importance and the questions to ask before you sign. It ends with a view on whether to proceed, renegotiate or look elsewhere.

What happens after the second opinion?

Many people stop here, with a clearer decision, and that is a good outcome. If you want continued help, Tech Consultancy covers architecture and code reviews, vendor selection, and requirements and RFP drafting. A part-time Fractional CTO can stay with you through the build. If you are buying a business or investing, technical due diligence goes deeper.

Is this right for you?

It suits owners and founders who are not technical and want a check before spending, and technical teams who want an outside view. If your build has already stalled, product rescue may be the nearer fit. About to sign something? Start with a second opinion.

FAQ

Questions we get asked

Can I share a quote from another agency?

Yes. That is one of the most common uses. We read it with your goals in mind and tell you what looks sound, what is vague and what to ask before signing.

Will you tell me if the quote is fair?

We can tell you whether the scope and approach make sense for your problem. We judge the work being proposed, so the advice does not depend on how the price compares with ours.

What if you think I should not work with TechSum?

We will say so. A second opinion is only worth having if it can be trusted, and that means being honest even when the answer is not us.

Is my material kept private?

Yes. Documents you share are used only for the review.
