Product Rescue: Taking Over Stalled Builds

Your build has stalled and you are no longer sure what you have paid for. We take over, find out what is really there, tell you plainly what it will take to finish, and get it moving again.

Who it is for

Sound familiar?

  • Your developer or agency stopped answering, and the build is half done

  • The launch date has moved so many times nobody believes it any more

  • Every bug fix seems to create a new bug somewhere else

  • You inherited code that nobody on your team understands

What you receive

What you receive

Agreed in writing before the work starts. You choose the pace. We agree the schedule with you at the start.
product-rescue.scope7 items
  • A written assessment of what exists: the code, how it fits together, tests, hosting and access
  • A plain recommendation to repair, restructure or rebuild, with the reasons
  • Access recovered to your code repositories, hosting, domains and outside accounts
  • A rescue plan with milestones you can hold us to
  • Fixes for the serious bugs that block launch
  • A working demo at every sprint once the build restarts
  • Documentation, source files and a recorded walkthrough
Everything we produce, and every login, is yours to keep.

The Path

How it runs

Five phases, the same on every project. You choose the pace. We agree the schedule with you at the start.
  1. Starts day one

    Listen

    A documented brief

  2. Before any build

    Shape

A technical plan, screen layouts and a scope you can hold us to

  3. Built in sprints you can see

    Build

A working demo at every sprint

  4. When you are ready

    Launch

Every source file, login and a recorded walkthrough

  5. Ongoing

    Evolve

A portal where every request and approval is on record

Evolve leads back to Listen, so the work keeps improving for as long as you want it to.

The detail

Product rescue is for founders and businesses whose app, platform or website build has stalled, run late or been left by the team that started it. We recover access, find out what really exists, tell you plainly what it will take to finish, and get the work moving again.

How do builds stall?

Quietly, most of the time. A developer replies less often. An agency asks for more time, then more again. The test version looks nothing like the proposal. By the time you ask for help, you may not know what you have paid for, or who holds the keys to it.

Rescue starts with one plain question: what exists today? We answer it with evidence from the code, the hosting and the documents you have.

What happens first in a rescue?

We recover access: the code repository, the hosting, the domain, and outside accounts such as payment gateways and email services. Everything should be in your name or your company's, and we help you get it there.

Then we review the code, how it fits together, the data and the hosting, and write up what we find.

What you receive from the assessment

A written report. It lists what exists, what works, what does not, what is missing and what is risky. It names what is likely to cost the most, and it ends with one clear recommendation:

  • Repair, if the base is sound.
  • Restructure, if the parts are good but the arrangement is wrong.
  • Rebuild, if fixing would cost more than starting again.

You can act on that report with us or with anyone else. We do not hold the assessment back to win the rescue.

How we get the build moving again

We fix what blocks launch first. Then the remaining features are finished in sprints, each ending with a working demo, against milestones agreed with you for this build. Before launch we test across devices and browsers, then hand over every source file, account login and a recorded walkthrough.

We work on Next.js and React web apps, Node.js back ends, Flutter and React Native mobile apps, and PHP and WordPress builds. If something is outside our range, we say so during the assessment and suggest who might help.

How the TechSum Standard applies to a rescue
  • Secure by default: old access is closed, passwords and keys left in the code are moved somewhere safe, and every account ends up in your name.
  • Built to scale: we fix the foundations the next features will stand on, not just the symptoms in front of us.
  • Tested before it ships: fixes are checked so they do not break something else, and automated tests are added where the code had none.
  • Looked after after launch: a stabilised product still needs care, and we can stay through ways to work that suit you.
  • Small changes handled, not invoiced: a small fix noticed along the way gets done, not added to the bill.
  • Honest advice: if the product idea itself no longer makes sense, we tell you before suggesting a rescue.
When rescue is not what you need

If no code, design or documentation is left, rescue becomes a fresh build, and we treat it as one through MVP development. If there is a dispute with the previous vendor over money or ownership, you need legal advice before we start, and we are not lawyers. If the product is live but fragile and you want a view before deciding anything, a Tech Second Opinion gives you a written review first.

What a rescue connects to

Stalled builds rarely fail on code alone. The hosting may need tidying under Digital Infrastructure, the security basics checked under Trust, Security & Compliance, and a product that is growing may move on to SaaS development. For an outside view of what you own before an investor asks, see technical due diligence. One team can carry all of it from here.

Where do we begin?

FAQ

Questions we get asked

How do you decide whether to fix or rebuild?

We read the code, check how it is hosted and tested, and compare the cost of repair with the cost of starting fresh. If the base is sound, we repair it. If every fix creates new problems, we say so and explain what a rebuild would involve, with the reasons written down.

What if my previous developer has not handed over the code?

Start with the contract and who owns the repository and hosting accounts. We can help you write a clear handover request. We cannot take over what we cannot access, so recovering access always comes first.

Will you criticise the previous team?

No. We report what the code and the setup show, in plain and factual terms. Rescue goes better when it stays about the work, not about blame.

How is a rescue paid for?

The assessment is a fixed piece of work. The rescue after it is usually a fixed-scope project, and a large or uncertain rescue can be split into phases so you commit one step at a time. The terms are agreed in writing before each step starts.

Can we keep working with you after the rescue?

Yes, if you want to. Once the build is stable, many teams keep us on a Care Retainer or set up a Dedicated Team for what comes next. The rescue does not depend on it.

Product Discovery Sprint

Test a product idea before you pay for the build. A tested scope, a clickable prototype and a build plan, in one written report.

  • A written problem statement and a definition of who the product is for
  • Research notes from talking to the people who would use it
  • A scoped first version: what is in, and what is left out
  • A clickable prototype you can put in front of users
  • Ends in a short written report you keep
