The detail
The Cloud Cost Review is for businesses whose cloud bill has grown faster than anyone expected. You walk away with a clear view of where the money goes, what can be cut safely and what to change first, in a short written report.
What does the Cloud Cost Review look at?
Cloud bills grow quietly. A test server nobody switched off, a database sized for a launch that never came, storage that keeps every old backup, or traffic that crosses regions for no good reason. Nobody notices until the invoice does. We look for these, and for the larger patterns underneath.
- Servers and databases. Ones that are unused, bigger than needed or running when they do not need to.
- Storage and backups. What is kept, for how long and whether you still need it.
- Data transfer. Traffic between services and regions that adds cost without adding value.
- Test and development copies. Separate copies of your system for testing that are as large as the live one when they do not need to be.
- Ownership. Whether anyone can say who is responsible for each part of the bill.
How does the review run?
You give us read-only access to billing and to the list of what you run on AWS, Google Cloud or Azure. We analyse the spend, check what each item does, and test our assumptions with your team where something looks odd. The price is fixed and agreed before we start.
What do you walk away with?
A short written report. It lists the changes in priority order, with the likely saving, the effort and the risk of each. Quick ones you can make straight away sit at the top. Bigger ones, such as resizing a database or moving a system, are explained with what you gain and what you give up.
What happens after the review?
Many businesses act on the quick changes themselves, and the report is written so you can. For the rest, our cloud cost optimisation work carries out the changes, and Digital Infrastructure covers the wider setup. To keep costs under watch after that, Managed Services can run the monitoring for you.
Is this right for you?
It suits any business paying for cloud and unsure what it buys. If your servers are not in the cloud at all, the Digital Health Check may be a better first look. Want to know where the money goes? Start with the review.
FAQ
Questions we get asked
Which clouds do you review?
AWS, Google Cloud and Azure. If you use a smaller provider or a mix, tell us when you get in touch and we will confirm it is in scope.
Will you need access to our cloud account?
We usually ask for read-only access to billing and to the list of what you run. We do not need to change anything for the review.
Could reducing cost make things less reliable?
It can if done carelessly. For each change, the report says what the saving is and what risk comes with it, so the decision stays with you.
Do you take a share of the savings?
No. The review is a fixed-price piece of work, so the advice is the same whether the saving is large or small.
